Jesus' Last Miracle -The severed ear

Scripture Reference:

“And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear. But Jesus answered, ‘No more of this!’ And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.” – Luke 22:50-51

In the shadowed olive trees of Gethsemane, where betrayal loomed and swords were drawn, Jesus performed His final healing miracle before the cross. A servant named Malchus—part of the crowd sent to arrest Him—had his ear cut off by Peter in a moment of impulsive defense. But what Jesus did next changed everything.

He reached out and healed the man’s ear.

Why? Why restore the hearing of someone coming to harm Him?

Because this wasn’t just about flesh and blood.
It was about spiritual hearing.
It was about restoring what sin and fear have severed.

The ear symbolizes our ability to hear the voice of God—to listen, obey, and walk in communion with Him. In our rebellion, we often stop listening. Our spiritual ears become dull, blocked by pride, pain, or distraction.

But even in our distance—even in our opposition—Jesus comes to restore what we’ve lost.

That final miracle wasn’t just about Malchus. It was for you and me.
Jesus still heals spiritual ears today.
He still invites us to hear Him again.

In a world filled with noise, be still enough to hear the whisper.
He is healing the broken places—so we can hear His heart again.

πŸ™πŸΌ Reflection Question:

Where have you stopped listening to God? Ask Him to restore your hearing today.
